GENERAL

The SFE is generally used to extract active compound from raw materials under supercritical conditions in which the operating pressure and temperature can be set automatically to achieve optimum extraction conditions.


WORKING PRINCIPLE

The raw material is charged into the extraction vessel by means of baskets. After closing the lid, the extraction vessel is initially vented with CO2 gas in order to remove remaining air and further pressurized up to about 50 bar by gaseous CO2.

The CO2 pressure is further increased to the supercritical condition by means of the circulation pump up to the desired extraction pressure and temperature. After the required extraction condition is achieved, the extraction of active compound from the raw material can be started.

The extract is withdrawn in the separation pot from the extraction vessel by means of pressure reduction and vaporization in the two step separation system.

The gaseous CO2 from the separation vessel is fed back into the CO2 storage tank to be recycled back for extraction operation.

All the operating temperatures, pressures and the CO2 mass flowrate can be controlled and adjusted through a control panel.

High-pressure extraction vessels

  1. Vessel size: 1 liter, 10 liters, 50 liters, 100 liters
  2. Vessel quantity: 1, 2 or 3
  3. Operating pressure: 500 Barg
  4. Operating temperature: 25C to 80C
  5. Extraction pot made of double layer material consists of stainless steel (inner) and carbon steel (outer) with hot water jacket; the upper and lower sieve removable filter.
  6. Provided with pressure and temperature sensors and controllers which can be adjusted automatically.

Separation vessels

  1. Vessel size: Sizing is carried out according to extraction vessel capacity
  2. Operating pressure: 100-200 Barg
  3. Made of double layer material consists of stainless steel (inner) and carbon steel (outer).
  4. Provided with temperature sensor, safety valve and pressure gauge.

CO2 high-pressure pump

  1. Capacity: Sizing is carried out according to extraction vessel capacity
  2. Piston type pump come with frequency inverter for speed regulator to control CO2 flow and outlet pressure regulator with over pressure protection

Extraction preheater

  1. Operating pressure: 500 Barg
  2. Operating temperature: 80C (maximum)
  3. Shell and tube design with tube made of stainless steel and shell of carbon steel.

Separation heater

  1. Operating pressure: 120-200 Barg
  2. Operating temperature: 80C (max)
  3. Shell and tube design with tube made of stainless steel and shell of carbon steel.
